ENTREPRENEURS FOR CLIMATE CHANGE COMPETITION

Combatting Poverty Through Local Ingenuity

Malawi’s energy economy has been heavily reliance on biomass energy for a long time and this has led to the country’s high carbon emission rates. From the massive patronage of coal mining to the proliferation of coal and wood combustion, Malawi has attained an estimated carbon footprint of 0.12 tons per capita. The country’s high carbon emissions have bolstered the rapidly changing climate, which through rampant floods and droughts, has negatively affected agriculture and led ultimately to poverty. (because most families depend on farming and fishing for basic income). From a reverse-engineered analysis of the problem, we have decided to harness Malawi’s own brainpower in the war against climate change and poverty.

Entrepreneurs for Climate Change Competition is a community-focused idea competition seeking well thought-out ideas from individuals/ teams of not more than 10 members for reducing carbon emissions in Malawi. Take a look at our site to find out more about ways to participate today!
